TIME FOR PREPARATION
The foundation for IDC's educational approach is two-fold: (1) the bottom line (i.e., making money, saving money, and achieving organizational goals / the mission) and (2) sustainability (i.e., attracting and retaining talent, as well as demonstrating relevance in education, the community and/or the marketplace).

Generally, the certification process can be as fast or as slow as you want it to be. IDC's program is flexible enough to account for all stages of a career's progression, as well as reflect the pace at which credentials are needed.

IDC's certification materials can prepare you for the exam, as well as for success on-the-job. The following describes your options.

EXAM TUTORIAL
Exam preparation can occur through professional experiences, college certificate or graduate programs, and other educational offerings. One does not have to utilize IDC's preparation materials in order to take the CDP or CDE test.

You will receive access to an online tutorial that summarizes what will be on the test. You may review the tutorial as needed prior to the exam.

The exam fee includes the exam and online tutorial only. Please note, this option does not include the study guide since it is assumed that you obtained preparation and materials elsewhere, or from IDC in a previous exam cycle.

SELF-STUDY
This option allows you to set your own pace and is an excellent choice for disciplined learners.

The self-study program consists of a hard copy of the most recent study guide, the live online exam review session, and the test. You will also have access to the online tutorial.

IDC recommends reading 1-2 chapters per week until you finish the study guide.

IMPORTANT!

You must take the CDP or CDE exam within the calendar year for which you applied. The calendar year runs from January 1 to December 31. If you miss the Dec. 31st deadline for any reason, you must pay the Exam Change Fee.
ONLINE PREP COURSE
The online prep course consists of a series of webinars with CDP and CDE designees from the corporate, government, nonprofit, and education sectors. The facilitators work in a variety of different capacities around the world.

The webinars take place every Tuesday and Thursday for eight (8) weeks. Each session is recorded and emailed to participants, along with the PowerPoint presentations, after the class.

The facilitators will cover one chapter (or competency) each class.  Candidates may ask questions and obtain deeper insight into each competency, as well as compare and contrast how diversity and inclusion is different across organizations, industries, states, countries, etc.

The online prep course includes the 8-week class, hard copy of the most recent study guide, live online exam review session, and the test. For the course offerings, click on Class Schedules.

CLASSROOM-BASED PREP COURSE
The classroom course provides a deep-dive educational experience, whereby candidates may learn from the instructor, the materials, and cohorts. It is designed to challenge current paradigms, and motivate candidates to strive for inclusive excellence.

This 3-day course is quite intense, as it covers the entire study guide and encompasses robust discussions about the nature of diversity and inclusion work. On the final day, participants present the concept for their Candidate Project and secure essential feedback prior to submitting the final version to a peer reviewer.

The classroom-based prep course consists of breakfast and lunch daily, a presentation binder, a hard copy of the most recent study guide, the live online exam review session, and the test. Candidates will also have access to the online tutorial.

Upon registering for the prep course, candidates will receive a listing of nearby airports and hotels.  For the course offerings, click on Class Schedules.
